Organized since 1985, the festival is one of the major events coordinated by Bialystok Cultural Centre. It is also the oldest and largest event of its kind in the region. Its focal point is the theatre, enriched by other art forms and happenings: visual arts, music, meetings with artists.
The festival is aimed at people who value bold and innovative artistic projects, and are ready to meet artists with clear visions who converse with the surrounding reality by means of forms, words, sounds and infinite imagination.
Over the past 31 years, the festival has hosted many artists from Poland and around the world, such as Hiroaki Umeda (Japan), Tanztheater Derevo (Russia / Germany), Compagnie Kumulus (France), Zbigniew Libera, Korniag Theater (Belarus), Studio Theater, Malabar Hotel Theatre Montownia Theatre, TO-EN Butoh Company, Maria Kong Dancers Company (Israel), Theatre of the Eighth Day, Academy of Movement, Teatrul Tineretului Piatra Neamt (Romania), Song of the Goat Theatre and many other independent and professional artists.
This year Modern Art Days are held for the 32nd time, on May 24-28.
